The Olympic athletes unbeaten on the day of a major Competition Draw in Avp Crocs Slam Bud Light
LONG BEACH, Calif. â € "July 25, 2008 â €" The AVP Crocs Slam Bud Light Long Beach Open Main Draw started on Friday at Marina Green Park in Long Beach, USA Volleyball and Olympic Beach breeze throughout the day unscathed in their final tune before Beijing.Â

After a break in the first round in the 24-team draw, favorite Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh added another victory to his record consecutive game winning streak, climbing to 97. The duo downed 17th-seeded Ashley Ivy and Heather Lowe, 21.10, 21-12 to advance to the third round at 9 am

And while rewriting history in the Crocs AVP Tour and international play € "of 97 consecutive games, they € ™ ve also won an unprecedented 17 straight tournament titles â €" May-Treanor and Walsh are also chasing history. If successfully defend as gold medalists in the Olympics, they € ™ ll also become the first repeat winner in beach volleyball € ™ s youth in the history of the Games.

The records are being broken their own brands of 89 straight victories and 15 straight tournaments, set before the 2004 Athens Olympic Games in Athens. However, although everything points to gold, four years can make a difference.

â € OEI that the Games (Olympics) field is much stronger, but I think they are older, more wiser and more mature as a team, â € said May-Treanor, who returns to his adopted hometown this week â € "carrying the California State University, Long Beach, an indoor national title in 1998. â € OEI think we are better and more consistent coming in. Furthermore, experience-wise, they are four years stronger and more experienced, that will really help us.â €

Mena € ™ s 1 seed and Mena € ™ s Olympics gold medal contenders Phil Dalhausser and Todd Rogers also went unbeaten, despite a busy day a little more. In addition to receiving a first round, Dalhausser / Rogers then beat 16th-seeded Paul Baxter and Matt Prosser, 21-14, 21-13, and eighth-seeded Matt Fuerbringer and Casey Jennings, 21-19, 21-14 to advance to the fourth round at 8 am Saturday.

The other ore € ™ s Olympic Games representatives Jake Gibb and Sean Rosenthal, seeded third this week, Seeded 14th, beat Billy Allen and Braidy Halverson, 21-17, 21-12, after four years at Long Beach State starter Ryan Mariano and Ed Ratledge partner, the seed of 11, 21-14, 17-21, 15-11, after his first round bye. They € ™ ll play in lower half of the winners bracket ™ € at 8 am Saturday.

The second women € ™ s team, Nicole Branagh and Elaine Youngs, seeded third this week, went into the third round after defeating 19th-seeded Erin Byrd and Stephanie Chapek, 21-7, 21-9. They € ™ ll play at 10 am Saturday.
